About
I like difficult problems, simple solutions, and software that actually solves something.
I’m Vladislav, an independent software engineer based in Riga, Latvia. I’ve been building software since 2022, mostly across web, mobile, backend systems and applied AI.
I got into programming gradually. At some point I realised I genuinely enjoy the routine around computers, code, and difficult problems that take time to untangle.
When I work on a product, I usually start by questioning the idea itself. I like looking at the problem from several angles, mapping the system, and showing an alternative when I think there is a better way to build something.
For me, good software isn’t finished because the code ships. It’s finished when it actually solves the problem it was built for.
How I think
01
Understand before building
I want to understand the business problem before deciding what the software should look like.
02
Consider more than one solution
The first idea isn’t always the best one. I like comparing approaches and making the trade-offs visible.
03
Solve the real problem
A technically impressive system is pointless if it doesn’t solve the user’s or client’s actual problem.

My work has taken me through payment systems, geospatial data, state-machine-driven business logic, database architecture, performance under load, and real-time multilingual audio. Lately, I’ve been especially interested in databases, distributed systems and AI — most recently, Raft consensus.
